You have experienced a life changing event

EMDR intensives can help when painful experiences have changed your life in ways you're still carrying. Maybe you've gone through a traumatic event, like a difficult birth or the loss of someone close to you. Or perhaps something happened years ago, but the impact still lingers today. You might also be facing life changes—even positive ones like marriage or starting a new job—that are harder to adjust to than you expected. These moments can bring up deep emotions, leaving you feeling lost, overwhelmed, or unsure of what to do next.

EMDR intensives are designed to help you process these emotions so you don't have to carry them alone. Whether you're trying to make sense of the past or struggling with something happening right now, this focused approach offers a path forward. Through concentrated, extended sessions, you can work through what's been weighing on you, find stability, and start feeling like yourself again.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapy that helps people process trauma in a different way. It works by using how the brain naturally heals itself to “unstick” painful memories that feel like they are stuck in place.

When trauma happens, those memories get trapped in a part of the brain where they can’t be properly processed. This is why certain sights, sounds, or situations can trigger strong feelings of fear or anxiety. The brain thinks it’s still in danger, even though the threat has passed. EMDR helps break that cycle, so you can respond to the present instead of reacting to the past.

What is an EMDR Intensive?

EMDR Intensives are a cutting-edge format of therapy that allows us to accelerate the healing process. Instead of spending week after week in therapy, you can book a therapy intensive and get results now. EMDR Intensives are highly effective and efficient for resolving trauma and painful experiences. Clients are able to make more progress in 3 days than they’ve been able to do in 3 months of traditional weekly therapy. The intensive format creates a greater amount of change in a shorter amount of time.

How do EMDR Intensives work?

Free Consultation

The consultation will allow time to explore how an EMDR Intensive might be a healing option for you. This will include the EMDR Intensive process, expectations, clear up any questions you may have, and determine if we and EMDR Intensives are a good fit for you.

90 Minute Pre-Intensive Session

The intensive begins with a 90-minute session. We meet together to lay the groundwork for the intensive. We discuss your history, your goals for the intensive, and what to expect.

Customized Client Workbook

You receive a customized Client Workbook to prepare you for the therapy intensive. It will allow us to go further, faster because the therapy work begins before our first session.

Intensive Sessions

The Intensive Sessions are 3 hours long, allowing us to go deep and get to the heart of the issue. We will take breaks and make sure that the pace feels comfortable to you. You will be in the driver’s seat the entire time.

90 Minute Post-Intensive Session

The intensive ends with a 90-minute debrief session. During this session, we will reflect on the most important moments of the intensive, as well as next steps on your healing journey.

Common questions about EMDR Intensives

  • EMDR Intensives are not a service covered by insurance companies. In some cases, you can submit a Superbill (or receipt) to your insurance company for potential reimbursement for a portion of the cost of the EMDR intensive.

  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking your intensive and the remaining 50% is due on the first day of your intensive session.

  • There is a 2 week cancellation policy: Any cancellation within 2 weeks of the Pre-Intensive Interview will result in full charge of the intensive program.

  • EMDR intensives are extended therapy sessions that allow you to do deeper trauma processing work in a condensed timeframe. Instead of meeting once a week for 50 minutes, you might meet for three to six hours in a single day or across a few consecutive days. This format gives your brain more time to fully process difficult memories and experiences without stopping and starting each week.

  • Traditional EMDR therapy happens in weekly sessions, which means you process a little at a time and then return to daily life before your next appointment. EMDR intensives compress that work into longer, focused sessions. This allows for deeper processing, fewer interruptions, and often faster progress. Many clients find they accomplish in a few intensive sessions what might take months in a weekly format.

  • EMDR intensives work well for people who have busy schedules and cannot commit to weekly appointments, those who feel stuck in traditional therapy, or anyone ready to do focused work on a specific issue. They are also a good option for people who travel frequently, have demanding careers, or simply want to accelerate their healing process.

  • Session length varies based on your needs and goals. Some intensives are three hours, while others may be six hours or longer. Your therapist will work with you to determine the right structure based on what you are processing and how much time you can dedicate. Breaks are built in throughout the session to help you stay grounded.

  • The number of sessions depends on your history, goals, and what you are working through. Some people find significant relief after one intensive day, while others benefit from multiple sessions spread over weeks or months. Your therapist will help you create a plan that fits your situation rather than following a rigid formula.

  • Your session will include preparation, active EMDR processing, and time to close out the work in a grounded way. You will work with your therapist to target specific memories or beliefs, process them using bilateral stimulation, and integrate what comes up. Breaks are included so you can rest, eat, and reset as needed throughout the day.

  • No prior EMDR experience is required. If you are new to EMDR, your therapist will spend time at the beginning of your intensive preparing you for the process. This includes building coping skills, discussing how EMDR works, and making sure you feel ready. Some people start with a few traditional sessions before moving into an intensive format.
